My Honest Wild Deodorant Reviews

I’m thrilled to write these Wild Deodorant reviews because I have a lot to say about this brand and formula! I can’t believe I’m even saying this, but I’ve become a natural deodorant convert in the last year or so and I haven’t really looked back.

I’ve tried a ton of natural and aluminium-free deodorants in the last ten years I’ve been working as a beauty editor. When I first started trying them out a decade ago, they sucked. Nowadays, the technology and formulations are so advanced, and I’m so impressed with many of the products that I’ve tried. So much so, that I reach for my aluminium-free deodorants over my antiperspirant about 90% of the time.

While I do have a few brands I really love to use, I hope that these Wild Deodorant reviews will help you decide if this is the right pick for you. Read on to find out my honest (and experienced) thoughts about Wild Deodorant.

Wild Deodorant Reviews: Everything You Need to Know About This Sustainable Brand

I’m not gonna lieβ€”I was a bit confused about this brand when I first saw it. The brand had reached out to me because of my editorial work with multiple digital outlets I write for. I had never heard of the brand prior, but I loved the heavy sustainability aspect of the brand.

When the brand sent me a Wild Deodorant to try, I was extremely confused about how it works and how to insert the refill into the case. I tried to cram the refill into the top of the case, which is absolutely not the way you’re supposed to insert the refill.

Thankfully, I went onto the website and watched the (really simple) video on how to insert the refill into the case. In these Wild Deodorant reviews, I will be covering how this product works, what are the pros and cons, if this deodorant is worth it, and where to buy it, too.

What Is Wild Deodorant?

Wild is a refillable, natural deodorant brand that’s made without aluminum, parabens, or sulfates. Instead, the brand uses natural ingredients like tapioca starch and baking soda to keep your pits dry and fresh. But what really sets Wild apart (besides the sleek, candy-colored packaging) is that it’s completely plastic-free and refillable. Like a chic little case you keep forever and biodegradable refills you swap in as needed. It’s like the sustainable deodorant version of a capsule wardrobe, and honestly, I’m into it.

Other aspects of this pick that set it apart from other natural deodorants include the wild scentsβ€”which are pretty interesting, to say the least. From β€œStrawberry & Cream” to β€œOrange Marmalade,” and β€œOcean Mist” to β€œThunderstorm,” the brand has a relatively wide range of deodorant scents for the consumer to choose from.

How Does Wild Deodorant Work?

It took me a hot second to figure out how the Wild Deodorant works, but I eventually caught on after watching the how-to video on the brand’s website. All you have to do is twist the empty refill down to its lowest point, then separate the deodorant case by pulling the base and body apart. Then, place the new refill in the base, and then reattach the body of the case by snapping it back on.

To use, the brand recommends swiping your pits a couple of times with the deodorant, ideally at the start of the day or just after a shower. They also suggest giving your pits a rub to help absorb into the skin, which can take a few minutes.

How Does Wild Deodorant Work?

Pros of Wild Deodorant

Smells great

Okay so truth be told, I’ve only ever tried one scent from the brand haha! But, the one I’ve tested smells amazing. The one I use is the Sensitive Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt. It really does smell like a day at the beach in the best way. I haven’t tried the other scents, but I bet they are as good as Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt. I am curious to know what the other, unusual scents are like including Cola and Orange Marmalade.

Sustainable

The best part about this deodorant is that it’s incredibly sustainable while looking super chic. The natural personal care world has gotten a serious upgrade over the last few years, and the days of ugly packaging and not-elegant formulations are over. For this deodorant, you can buy the aluminum case once, and then continue to purchase the refills, which are vegan and completely plastic-free.

Masks the stink

This does a pretty amazing job of masking odor in my pits. I haven’t had to reapply it during the day, which I can’t say applies to many other natural deodorants that I’ve tried.

Formula feels dry

Another bonus I’ve noticed about this formula is that it feels pretty β€œdry” on the skin. Some of the aluminium-free deodorants that I use feel slightly more β€œwet” than this one. It doesn’t typically bother me that much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how this formula felt more powdery than wet.

Good for sensitive skin

I have the most sensitive skin in the world, and I cannot use natural deodorants that have baking soda, unfortunately. The original Wild Deodorant formula does contain baking soda, and I haven’t tried that formula on my pits. However, the brand created another formula designed for sensitive skin where they completely omitted baking soda. I have no issues with that formula and love it!

Cons of Wild Deodorant

Leaves white marks

Like many reviewers have mentioned, this deodorant does leave white marks. You can kind of press your arm tight to your body and rub it back and forth to get the formula to rub into your skin a bit more, but it’s still going to leave a slight white mark. If that bothers you, you might want to choose another natural deodorant. This will also leave slight white marks on your clothes, so beware of that, too.

Top can get messy

If the deodorant winds out too far from the top of the case, it can creep over the edges of the case and cause a smudgy top. Some reviewers have also said that the pods can even fall out if not handled carefully.

Can irritate some folks if they’re sensitive to baking soda (that is, if they don’t opt for the sensitive formula like I did)

If you know you are sensitive to baking soda, you need to opt for the sensitive range from Wild. I haven’t tried the regular formula, but I’m pretty sure it would irritate my pits. If you aren’t sensitive to baking soda, I think you should also check out our Curie Deodorant review, too.

Won’t stop sweat

Like most aluminum-free deodorants, this is not going to stop you from sweating. It’s just going to mask the odor of your sweat glands. If you are a super heavy sweater, I probably wouldn’t recommend this pick to you.

Is Wild Deodorant Worth It?

Is Wild Deodorant Worth It?

Yes, I think Wild Deodorant is worth it. However, it depends on what type of sweater you are. If you’re a minimal-average sweater, I think this natural deodorant will serve you well. If you are a heavy sweater, you might want to reconsider this option. I’d say I’m an average sweater (with a slight leaning towards minimal sweater), and I don’t have any issues in terms of smelly stinky when using this pick. I can’t comment on how this deodorant would hold up for those who sweat a lot and often.

I also think this deodorant is worth it if you want to save the Earth! It’s so sustainable. And not only that, but it’s actually a really pretty, attractive eco-friendly deodorant at that! Which I feel like is kinda hard to find.

If you are unsure, I’d purchase the 3-Pack Mini Deodorants ($15) from Wild and see how you feel about those. Please keep in mind that I don’t think this 3-pack contains any of the sensitive skin formulas. So you will have to purchase the sensitive skin formulas separately, on their website, to get those.
